Ear Curation; What does it mean?
When it comes to Ear Piercing, the term ‘Ear Curation’ has only come about in the last decade or so. Thrown around liberally in the world of high fashion, Ear Curation simply means to expertly layout a set of piercings on an ear. So, why is this not something that every piercing studio is offering their clients?
To curate an ear requires expertise. It means working with the natural flow of the ear to select the proper placements. It means selecting the right precious metal tones to complement the wearer’s skin tone. It means knowing where to place stones…

Helix Piercing
A Helix Piercing, also known as Cartilage Piercing, usually refers to the ridge of the cartilage around the upper edge of the ear.
Depending on your anatomy, we would generally follow the indentation along the fold of your ear, and help you pick a design that perfectly sits there.
A Double Helix or Triple Helix is very popular, the combinations are endless and we are here to help you choose.
We would have to use a straight labret bar stud for the piercings, for your safety, as they are the best for healing. Do not worry, we have countless gorgeous designs in our Dublin Piercing Studio!

Daith Piercing
The Daith Piercing is fast growing to be one of the most popular piercings out there! It would be performed at the innermost Cartilage fold of the ear, just above your ear canal.
It is a perfect place to showcase a ring, which can decorate your Inner Conch area and be beautifully framed by the rest of the ear. With our expert advice here Piercer Charlie’s Creations, rest assured that you will find the perfect match for your anatomy and style.
In our Dublin Piercing Studio, we house Ireland’s largest collection of Fine Jewellery, for all your Ear Piercing and Body Piercing needs.

Conch Piercing
A Conch Piercing would be placed at the inner ear area that is shaped like a cup. A statement piece would generally fit there, and get beautifully framed by the surrounding cartilage fold of the ear.
Anatomy dependent, you can get a Double Conch! The combinations are endless and we are here to help you choose.
We would have to use a straight labret bar stud for the piercings, for your safety, as they are the best for healing. Do not worry, we have countless gorgeous designs!
Hoops as initial jewellery on the Conch are not recommended as we find that they interfere majorly with the healing process.
This classy Conch hoop you might be after needs patience!

Forward Helix Piercing
A Forward Helix Piercing is a great choice for a single discreet and delicate sparkly stud, though most people tend to prefer a double or even a triple one. How many you can get will ultimately depend on your ear anatomy, as there will have to be enough flat space in the front, and also space at the back, for the bar to fit without pressure.
Don’t worry, we will assess and advise in our Dublin Piercing Studio how many you can get, or we can also recommend alternatives.
As a placement, it is located on the upper and outer cartilage part, just above the Tragus, close to your face.

Lobe Piercing
A Lobe Piercing is by far the most popular piercing in the world, having even become common amongst men in recent years.
Whether they are your classic first piercings or a more complicated Earlobe project you were after, we will be delighted to assist you with it.
There is a generous offer of 20% discount on little kids lobe piercings, titanium jewellery and piercing aftercare in an effort to keep them away from what we believe are unsafe ‘piercing gun’ establishments.
For all earlobe piercings, we would have to use a straight labret bar stud, for your safety, as they are the best for healing. Do not worry, we have countless gorgeous designs!

Tragus Piercing
A Tragus Piercing would be at the little cartilage part of the ear, next to your face, right in front of the ear canal.
It is a great placement to showcase a unique piece of jewellery, though people would generally prefer ones that sit on a lower profile, thus not ‘sticking out’ too much.
Jewellery sizing would depend greatly on your tragus size and anatomy.
You might even be able to get a double or a triple tragus piercing! On rare occasions though, your tragus might be too small to be properly pierced, and if so we will recommend alternatives.

Rook Piercing
The Rook Piercing would take place on the cartilage part on top of your Daith and just behind the Forward Helix. It is partly popular for the fact that it doesn’t go through the back of the ear, and some people prefer these piercings, but mostly because it looks amazing!
We would have to use a curved barbell for the piercing, for your safety, as they are the best for healing. Do not worry, we have countless gorgeous designs!
Round hoops as initial jewellery on the Rook are not recommended as we find that they interfere majorly with the healing process. Oval shaped of an appropriate size can be suitable for new piercings, depending on one’s anatomy.

Nostril Piercing – Nose Piercing
Nostril Piercings, more commonly called Nose Piercings, can suit most people and are the most popular piercing placement after the ears. The placement will be assessed by your piercer and if you plan to wear a hoop after the piercing heals completely, it needs to be taken to account.
Your piercer will mark the placement that best compliments your anatomy and allows for a good fit of a hoop in the future, if you wish to.
As always, please carefully review the marked placement before approving it.

Septum Piercing
A Septum Piercing is located at, well…, your Septum! Right at that thin piece of cartilage between your nostrils, and specifically at the soft tissue. No actual cartilage gets pierced!
Your nose to lip symmetry will play a big role in the positioning, and while there is nothing wrong with a deviated Septum, it can make the piercing quite challenging.
In the end your piercer must perform the piercing is such a way, that the jewellery sits symmetrically to your whole face.
We will assess your anatomy, discuss it with you and explain all your options, along with the jewellery choices!

Industrial Piercing
An Industrial Piercing would generally connect two piercings by a straight barbell.
Traditionally from the forward helix, to the outer helix towards the back of your ear. It is highly anatomy dependent, the ear folds have to be large enough, and there must be unobstructed space for the barbell to sit.
Every ear is different, there are however a lot of other custom options, such as customly bent bars, angled adapters etc, which we can utilise depending on your anatomy and get you an awesome unique look.
We are always delighted if you let us have a look and recommend unique or simply great looking options for your anatomy.

Surface Piercing
Surface Piercings are a great way to decorate a part of your body, they look like a straight barbell, that has 90 degree bends at the ends, much like a staple would.
Not all placements are suitable, we need to avoid moving tissue, avoid areas where clothes are more likely to catch etc. Your lifestyle will also play a role, so it would be best to come in for a consultation and together we will pick a suitable placement.

Navel Piercing – Belly Piercing
The history of Navel Piercing originates in ancient Egypt. Back then, only the wealthiest people were getting this piercing, as a way to show their wealth. In our times, it exploded in popularity after it was featured in an Aerosmith video in 1993, followed by Madonna showcasing hers afterwards.
Regardless of its popularity, every Navel differs and a different method is needed depending on your anatomy. The classic approach is the curved barbell / banana bar, where your anatomy shows a protruding lip on the top, along with enough space inside the navel pocket.
Another approach is the Floating Navel, which is done with a J shaped curved barbell.

Tongue Piercing
A piercing much in trend lately, the Tongue Piercing is a great choice to add to your piercing collection. It is a fairly painless piercing to get, and healing tends to be fast. Complications can easily be avoided by following our aftercare instructions.
Depending on your anatomy, you can get multiple piercings. Some people can two or three in a row, along the middle of the tongue. Most can get one on the left and one on the right side of the tongue.
Whatever you choose, we have a massive range of jewellery for the tongue, though for comfort the best choices are roundy beads or flat cabochon tops.

Nipple Piercing
Despite most people’s fears, Nipple Piercings tend to not be considerably painful, although they would need patience and consistent care during their healing period.
The nipple must be placed right at its base, at the exact spot that separates the nipple from the areola. This greatly reduces migration risk and helps with the healing.
It would also generally result in the nipples growing slightly larger and more sensitive.
We recommend getting both done at the same sitting. They are just as easy to take care of, they will look symmetrical and you will also get a discount!
